Sponsor testimony said the measure is intended to protect workers from threats arising from publicly available personal contact information. Rosie (surname not specified in the hearing) described staff concerns raised about public‑safety implications and confidentiality during the OLCC permit process and said the bill’s purpose is to prevent those workers’ private contact details from being publicly listed.
Tom Hoyt, testifying for the Society of Professional Journalists, urged caution. “This bill causes considerable concern in having a broad category of people's information totally unavailable by any means,” Hoyt said, and recommended the issue be referred to the state Sunshine Committee, which reviews public‑records exemptions.
