Selectmen approve contract amendment resolving grievance, clearing path for ambulance pilot at Station 2

The Board of Selectmen on Jan. 14 voted unanimously to approve an amendment to the town’s fire department contract that the administrator said resolves a filed grievance and permits a pilot program to staff an ambulance at Fire Station 2.
The administrator said the amendment clarifies three contract language items that had been unclear in the signed contract; in exchange the union agreed to permit the pilot ambulance program. The amendment and a related memorandum of agreement (MOA) will be posted on the town website next to the contract, the administrator said.
Selectmen voted in open session after discussing the matter in executive session; the meeting minutes and the posted MOA are expected to reflect the clarified language and the pilot arrangement. No vote tally beyond unanimous approval was recorded in the public discussion.
