Trustees approve $10,469.60 amendment for Honey Creek Nature Area design work

Jason (staff member) told trustees the Park and Recreation Committee’s design for enhancements at the Honey Creek Nature Area (former Mill Pond area) now requires a wetland delineation and permitting because a proposed access path near a bridge would cross adjacent wetlands.
Jason said the additional study and permitting work was not part of the initial contract because the wetland work was not known until detailed design began. He told the board the amendment under consideration would cover that study and permitting.
A trustee asked whether the $10,469.60 would be paid from ARPA or fund balance; Jason confirmed the broader design work is funded through ARPA but this $10,469.60 amendment would be paid from fund balance if the board approved. A motion to approve the contract amendment for $10,469.60 — bringing the total design contract to $245,060 — was moved, seconded and approved by voice vote.
Staff will proceed with the delineation and permitting work and return with any permitting updates required for construction or trailhead improvements.
