The Lincoln County Board of Commissioners approved employee handbook updates Feb. 4 after Human Resources Director Tracy Humphrey presented changes developed by a handbook committee and reviewed by county legal staff.
Humphrey said the committee revised the extended sick leave assistance program to require employees who donate leave to have contributed at least 24 hours before withdrawals are allowed and to permit both PTO and ESL donations. The updates also clarify timing for county benefit-payment collection when employees are on leave and new short-term disability language that outlines return-to-work and repayment procedures.
Humphrey described a new weather-emergency policy for essential personnel, such as highway crews and 911 dispatchers, that ensures the county will provide a safe place to stay when employees cannot safely travel home after a shift; the policy will include provisions for cots and basic accommodations at the facility where staff report. Humphrey said legal reviewed the changes before they were presented to the board.
Commissioners asked questions and then moved to approve the handbook updates. The roll-call vote recorded Arons, Otten, Schmidt, Putnam and Landeen as voting yes.
