Construction on Cherokee High replacement, middle and high school additions remain on schedule, officials say

The board received a monthly capital outlay update reporting construction progress on the Cherokee High replacement and other school projects and that the projects are on schedule and within budget.
Mr. Morris reported that Cherokee High School replacement work on brick, roofing and windows is progressing toward completion of the building envelope so interior work can accelerate; utility partners are on site. Creekland Middle School roofing is complete and interior mechanical/electrical/plumbing rough‑in is progressing. Creekview High School classroom addition roofing is complete; auxiliary gym structural steel is installed. Both Creekland and Creekview are on track for August occupancy; Cherokee High substantial completion was projected for early 2026 well ahead of turnover needs. Free Home School received its certificate of occupancy on Jan. 7 and the furniture, fixtures and equipment (FFE) phase is beginning.
The capital projects update was presented as informational; no formal vote was recorded. Board members asked timing clarifications for Cherokee High interior turnover and Mr. Morris said the project is currently ahead of schedule and will allow time for FFE and technology installation prior to occupancy.
