Four Rockdale students named 2025 REACH Georgia scholars; district and foundation to support scholarships

Superintendent Terry Oates and district staff introduced four Rockdale County students chosen for the 2025 REACH Georgia Scholar cohort and thanked the Rockdale County Public Schools Foundation for funding support.
The program pairs mentorship with scholarship eligibility and, upon successful completion and graduation, qualifying students can receive up to $10,000 (disbursed as $2,500 per year for four years) toward tuition at eligible colleges in the University System of Georgia, the Technical College System of Georgia or eligible private institutions.
The 2025 scholars announced were:
- Alicia (Aliciaba) Silvestri, Memorial Middle School — recognized for oratorical awards, athletics, honors and strong STAR/STAAR performance.
- Tahi Lindsay, Edwards Middle School — honor-roll student, athletics and participation in a health-care pre-med pathway.
- Emerson Olczyk (Emerson), Davis Middle School — gifted curriculum participant, distinguished honor roll and high-school course enrollment as an eighth grader.
- Isaac Snead, Davis Middle School — principal's list, 4-H leadership, National Junior Honor Society participation and other recognitions.
District staff said the Rockdale County Public Schools Foundation serves as the lead fundraising agent for local scholarship contributions to REACH Georgia and that the foundation has supported Rockdale's participation since 2018.
Why it matters: REACH Georgia offers both mentorship and a scholarship incentive designed to improve college access. District and foundation representatives said student selection emphasizes academic achievement, leadership and community involvement.
