At its Feb. 13, 2025 voting session, the Cobb County Board of Education approved two student disciplinary hearing officer decisions, accepted the personnel report, and extended Superintendent Ragsdale's contract through Feb. 12, 2028. Each action passed by recorded votes of 6-0.
Board member Miss Davis moved to approve the student disciplinary hearing officer's decision in student discipline appeal 12; Mr. Scammerhorn seconded that motion. The board recorded a 6-0 vote to approve the hearing officer's decision. For student discipline appeal 13, Mr. Schumacher moved approval and Mr. Wheeler seconded; the board again voted 6-0 to accept the hearing officer's decision.
The human resources personnel report for Feb. 13, 2025, was presented by Chief Human Resources Officer Keely Bowen, who said the administration recommended approval of the employment actions discussed in executive session and that there were no principal-level or higher recommendations. Miss Davis moved to accept the personnel report and recommendations; the board approved the motion by voice/hand vote.
On the extension of the superintendent's contract, Mr. Cristaduro moved that the board extend Superintendent Ragsdale's contract to be in effect from Feb. 13, 2025, to Feb. 12, 2028. Mr. Wheeler seconded; the motion passed 6-0.
Items on the consent agenda that passed earlier in the meeting included authorization to demolish specified school properties at Bells Ferry to build a new facility, approval of a guaranteed maximum price for Bells Ferry Elementary School, and authorization to renew a portable classroom contract; those items were approved on the consent agenda and not discussed in detail during the voting session.
