The Kentwood City Commission on Jan. 21 authorized the mayor to enter a construction agreement with Boss Grama Homes for installation of utilities at the Wildflower Townhomes site at the southeast corner of 40 Fourth and Woma.
City staff described the item as an authorization for the mayor to enter a construction agreement so the developer can deposit funds in escrow to pay for construction services for water and sewer. "They're developing the piece that's on the South East Corner of 40 Fourth and Woma. Utilities there, water and sewer are Grand Rapids, and so they deposit these funds in escrow to help pay the cost for those construction services," city staff member Brad said during the meeting.
There was no extended discussion recorded. The commission approved the authorization by voice vote after a motion by Commissioner Arts and a second from Commissioner Tyson.
The contract approval does not create city‑owned water or sewer mains for the site; staff described the arrangement as developer‑funded work to connect to utilities provided by the City of Grand Rapids. No dollar amount or construction schedule was specified in the meeting record; staff said the item will move forward with the developer depositing funds in escrow and with construction services coordinated with the utility provider.
The commission approved the item and moved to the next agenda matter.
