Council approves MDOT cost agreement for S. Avenue reconstruction and establishes downtown development advisory council

The Saginaw City Council voted to adopt two resolutions: an MDOT cost agreement for reconstruction of S. Avenue and formation of an advisory citizens council for the Downtown Development Authority.
The first resolution approved MDOT cost agreement 24-5556 for the reconstruction of S. Avenue between South Jefferson Avenue and Sheridan Avenue; the council voted in favor and the resolution passed. City staff identified the agreement number and project limits during the meeting.
The council then adopted a resolution establishing a Development Area Citizens Council as an advisory body to the Downtown Development Authority. The resolution passed on a voice vote.
Council members and staff noted that construction season is approaching; the city manager also announced a construction job fair on March 12 and reported on City Hall renovation phasing. The S. Avenue reconstruction project is expected to proceed under the MDOT agreement and will be coordinated with street and utility scheduling.
The council’s votes on the two resolutions cleared the way for staff to finalize agreements and schedule project implementation steps; staff will return with contract details and timelines as they are available.
