The Detroit City Council voted on procedural motions to bring back several departmental items for additional information and moved multiple event petitions to formal session with record dates for approval.
On unfinished business the council approved a one-week bring-back for line item 5.1 (Contract No. 66843) — a memorandum relative to staffing support for a shelter contract with Diversified Employment Services Inc. The agenda lists that contract’s total amount as $253,004.28 for a three-year term and the council president pro tem’s office said it was still awaiting departmental responses; council members moved to bring the item back in one week.
Council likewise approved a one-week bring-back for line item 5.2, a memorandum on residential parking concerns, and a two-week bring-back for line item 5.3, a proposed city fleet vehicle inventory policy.
In new business the council moved several petitions and resolutions to formal session with recommendations for approval. Petitions advanced include:
• Line 6.1 — March Rush on March 23, 2025 (Canfield between Cass and Second) with set-up and teardown dates as submitted.
• Line 6.2 — Growler Gallop at Atwater Brewery on Sept. 28, 2025.
• Line 6.3 — Share Rock Fest on March 15, 2025 at 401 Gratiot, with multi-day setup and teardown as described in the petition.
• Line 6.4 — Grand Circus Park Opening Day Party on April 4, 2025.
Each petition was moved to formal session with record dates for approval; the meeting record does not show final roll-call votes on those items during the session.
Members also moved line item 6.5 (a three-year, $90,000 contract for trailer-mounted power washer repair services) to formal session with a recommendation for approval; departmental staff provided operational details during discussion.
The motions were procedural steps to allow additional departmental responses, scheduling and formal consideration in a future meeting; where council asked for more detail the record shows specific bring-back windows of one or two weeks.
