The Neighborhoods and Community Services Standing Committee advanced several procedural items to formal session and scheduled follow-up on a pair of administrative memoranda.
The committee moved the Detroit Jazz Festival petition (line item 6.1) to formal session with a recommendation for approval; the festival dates in the packet run August 29–September 1, 2025, at Hart Plaza and Woodward Avenue with setup and teardown timelines provided in the backup. The United Irish Societies’ request to hold the 67th Detroit St. Patrick’s Parade on March 16 was also moved to formal session (line item 6.2).
The committee agreed to bring back, in two weeks, a memorandum from Council Member Angela Whitfield Callaway concerning city fleet vehicle inventory and policy (line item 5.1). The council also granted two-week follow-up on a memorandum submitted by Council Member Gabriela Santiago Romero related to residential parking concerns (line item 6.8); administration staff agreed to provide responses within the two‑week period.
These procedural votes will place the event permits on the committee’s formal-session docket and require the administration to follow up on the fleet‑inventory and residential‑parking memoranda.
