The Parks, Recreation and Forestry Committee voted on Feb. 12 to rename a portion of the Wildwood/McMillan trail that runs along Adler Road to the Adler Road Trail. Committee members said the change will align the trail name with the route and reduce confusion for trail users and first-time visitors.
Natasha raised the naming issue, noting multiple references to “Wildwood” and “Wildwood Station” in the trail materials and suggesting the portion along Adler Road be renamed for clarity. Justin, city parks staff, told the committee staff had no objection to renaming the segment and said most city trails do not yet have on-site signage; staff will manage any sign changes.
A committee member moved to rename the trail; the motion was seconded and passed by voice vote. The committee directed staff to update map materials and the city’s trail brochure and to prepare implementation details for future signage updates.
The committee did not report any cost estimate during the Feb. 12 meeting; staff said most trails currently lack signs and that sign procurement and installation would be scheduled through routine capital or operating processes.
