The Ottumwa Community School District board approved two items at its Jan. 14 meeting: a continued professional development agreement with Marzano Resources and an award of an RFP for elementary Chromebooks to RTI for $414,050.
District staff said the teacher quality committee reviewed the Marzano Resources agreement and recommended continuing the partnership for the next school year; proponents said Marzano training supports district instructional frameworks highlighted in school presentations. The board approved the agreement in the bundled vote covering items E and F.
Staff also said the district’s elementary Chromebook fleet is approaching the end of its usable life. The district issued a request for proposals, received eight vendor responses and recommended RTI for the purchase and deployment of devices at a cost of $414,050. The board approved the vendor award by motion; staff said procurement will follow district purchasing rules and deployment scheduling will be coordinated with schools.
Board materials included the vendor recommendation and the Marzano agreement for board review. Staff said they will manage rollout timing and return to the board if any significant procurement or funding changes occur.
