At the Feb. 11 City of Live Oak council meeting, downtown stakeholders raised maintenance concerns and welcomed recent lighting work connected to a downtown improvement effort.
Robert Blaine, who identified himself as the owner of the Lehi Oak Canteen Mall, said he met with the Chamber of Commerce and downtown businesses about a project called Lift Up Live Oak and that the top priority among merchants was better lighting. He said some old lights were removed and new fixtures are in place and that he appreciated the city—s progress, while urging continued attention to complete electrical work.
Kenneth Beaver, who gave his address as 17 Northeast Davis Street, raised separate concerns about potholes and trash in rights-of-way and asked the city to address consistent cleanup and street maintenance. Beaver said county crews pick up trash on Fridays but asked that the city do the same in problem areas.
The comments were recorded during the public-comment portion of the meeting; the transcript does not show a formal council vote on downtown maintenance or funding for the lighting project at this meeting.
