Judiciary committee approves Legislative Council technical corrections bill (House Bill 1031)
Summary

Megan Gordon of Legislative Council described the bill as a package of nonpolicy, technical corrections developed during the interim judiciary committee review. She told senators the bill merges multiple scattered definitions into a single section; fixes typographical cross-reference errors (for example, correcting chapter and section numbers and federal law renumberings); updates the name of the regional electric grid operator; and removes obsolete references to committees repealed by recent laws.
Senators emphasized that the bill does not change policy. Senator Lueck moved a due-pass recommendation; Senator Murdoch seconded. The committee recorded a unanimous vote in favor and named Senator Lueck as the carrier.
The bill’s changes are housekeeping items intended to improve statutory clarity and do not alter substantive rights or agency authorities.
