The Joint Finance and Appropriations Committee accepted a technical correction to the program maintenance bill for public schools by unanimous consent on Feb. 12 to specify the per‑support‑unit health‑insurance distribution.
Jared Tatro, deputy division manager for the Legislative Services Office Budget and Policy Analysis Division, told the committee that public schools receive a dollar amount per support unit rather than a per‑FTP amount and that the correct calculated value to include in the bill is $21,902 per support unit. The analyst said the prior presentation had shown $21,901.50 and that the figure rounds up to $21,902, which must be in bill language so the Department of Education can distribute the funds.
A committee member asked for unanimous consent to accept the calculated amount as shown on the screen and to include it in the program maintenance bill. Hearing no objection, the chair ordered the change."
