Council advances LA County traffic and public-health code adoptions to March

The City Council on Feb. 11 conducted public hearings and advanced ordinances to adopt Los Angeles County codes for traffic and public health.
City Manager John Moreno told the council that Paramount periodically adopts the county’s traffic and health codes to ensure the city is aligned with the most current versions. The council conducted a first reading of Ordinance 11-94 (adopting the Los Angeles County traffic code) and scheduled it for adoption on March 11, the city manager said.
For the related Ordinance 11-95 (incorporating the Los Angeles County public-health code), the council opened and closed the public hearing that evening after hearing no public comments for or against the measure. A motion to close the hearing and proceed passed on a roll-call vote; the subsequent roll call for the recommended action also recorded unanimous support.
City staff said the items are administrative updates to bring the city code into conformity with countywide standards; no substantive local policy changes were discussed during the Feb. 11 hearings. Council members voted unanimously on the motions to close and to take the recommended actions.
