Council members used part of the Feb. 11 meeting to report on regional agency business and recent local visits.
Mayor Jones summarized a SANDAG discussion about a federal investigation and said the board plans to move forward with recommendations, including that the agency attorney report directly to the board rather than the executive director to avoid conflicts. Jones also reported conversation about fire hazards and evacuation risks on State Route 67 and said the board discussed evacuation priorities.
Council Member LeBlanc and others reported on the League of California Cities. Jason Ryan, the league’s legislative analyst, told attendees that a large portion of the state health and human services budget is federally funded and that budget numbers remain uncertain; the legislature has started submitting bills and the deadline for bill submittal was noted as Feb. 21.
Council Members also updated the body about Clean Energy Alliance work (a draft strategic plan is online but not yet adopted), North County Transit District meeting dates, and a recent visit to Union Baseball Systems in San Marcos that showcased player‑development equipment and outreach to local schools and colleges.
These reports were informational and no formal council action was taken during the reports segment.
