The Huron City Commission approved first reading of a supplemental appropriation ordinance and set its second reading for Jan. 13, 2025.
Finance Director Pauline Carey reviewed the ordinance, which lists budget adjustments across multiple departments. Carey cited salary increases tied to union contract settlements that occurred after the 2024 budget, purchases and repairs for parks and rec equipment, community-garden pump and motor costs, and other routine adjustments.
Carey highlighted an airport line item and described an associated project listed at $1,100,000. She told commissioners the city had already received $1,660,000 in federal and state funds related to airport work and that the city's match was about $40,000. Carey said other items included water treatment purchases and golf course equipment funded through golf revenues.
Commissioners asked no substantive questions and approved the ordinance's first reading by roll-call vote; the second reading was scheduled for Jan. 13, 2025.
