The Douglas County Criminal Justice Coordinating Council decided to hold its 2025 meetings in person at Mission Chambers and discontinue the hybrid meeting format, citing better participation and more meaningful discussions in person.
Council staff said the newly renovated meeting space makes in-person meetings feasible and that the April meeting is scheduled for April 8 at 11 a.m. Materials distributed with the meeting list the full set of 2025 dates and locations; staff said they will update the county website with the schedule and member contact information.
Members discussed logistics around hosting in-person meetings. Staff warned that construction at the Judicial and Law Enforcement Center may make parking more challenging for future meetings. Katie Fitzgerald, CJCC staff, asked agencies to identify the person who will serve as a data contact for each agency and noted she will coordinate with Carrie Britt, Douglas County public information officer, on communications outreach.
Members also raised practical matters about lunches and meeting hosting. Pam Wiegand proposed allowing members to select individual lunches rather than providing a single sandwich tray; several members offered to have their offices help with arranging lunches to reduce burden on CJCC staff. The council agreed to try alternate hosting arrangements for the April meeting and revisit the practice later.
The CJCC confirmed that public comment is accepted by email at cjcc@dgc0ks.gov and that there were no in-person or online public commenters at this meeting.
