Douglas County CJCC adds district attorney, impacted individual and law-enforcement reps

The Douglas County Criminal Justice Coordinating Council introduced new members at its February meeting, including District Attorney Dakota Loomis and community representative Timothy Shoulderblade, and affirmed law-enforcement representation from Sheriff Jay Armbrister and Chief Lockhart.
Timothy Shoulderblade introduced himself as an outreach and peer-support specialist with Artists Helping the Homeless and a college sophomore; he will serve as an impacted-individual community representative. Dakota Loomis, the county’s new district attorney, said his office and staff are committed to supporting CJCC data and information needs and welcomed the council’s work.
Chair Jessica Glendenning reviewed membership changes made under the council’s amended bylaws and noted that Doris Ricks rejoined the council as a community member at large. The CJCC said one community partner impacted-individual seat remains open; staff will accept applications through the county website (boards and councils → CJCC) for the remaining appointment.
Sheriff Jay Armbrister (speaking online) described the sheriff’s office role in operating the county jail and the importance of jail data to CJCC work. Other members who introduced themselves included Laurie Alvarado (CEO, DECA, treatment provider), Judge James McCabe (chief district court judge), Chris Kopecki (Lawrence municipal court judge), Susan Binkleman (chief court services officer), Doris Ricks (community at-large representative) and Shannon Reed (county commissioner, District 2). Several members described the value of community membership and peer representation to CJCC deliberations.
The CJCC asked staff to post application information on the county website for the open impacted-individual seat and invited members to refer candidates to staff.
