County finance staff told commissioners that the YMCA has resubmitted a request asking the county for $60,003.72 to replace the facility floor. Tammy Robinson, finance director, said the county’s budget for the year is already set and asked for direction on how to respond to the request.
Robinson said the YMCA had previously asked and been put on hold while the county considered other sports-complex options. Commissioner discussion referenced past remarks by Commissioner Tyson about using the sports complex to host tournaments and possibly help justify support to attract visitors to the county.
Robinson said that if the commission wanted to consider using the sports-complex fund for the request, the county might need to modify the charter ordinance or resolution that governs the sports-complex fund before spending those monies; she said she would research that.
Commissioners did not approve funding at the meeting. The item was left for future consideration; staff were asked to put the YMCA request on an upcoming agenda and research the sports-complex fund rules and any required charter changes before the commission takes further action.
