"I do think it should come from the economic development fund, and there's only about $7,000 in there for you to do these things," she said.
Commissioners discussed alternatives, noting similar requests from the YMCA and the need to avoid creating a precedent that obligates future appropriations. Robinson suggested the county refer the group to the CVV/visitor bureau (referred to in the meeting as CVV or CBD in different comments) where sponsorship and event support typically is handled.
The commission directed staff to contact the CVV and advise Mickey Dean to seek sponsorship through that body or consider a CVV/CBD application rather than direct county appropriation. No county appropriation was approved at the meeting.
