County staff outline multiple legislative items, including property-tax proposals and youth group-home bill

Sedgwick County staff updated the Board of County Commissioners on Feb. 12 about several legislative measures moving through the Kansas Legislature and on county staff priorities.
Tonya Cole, Assistant County Manager, said staff had seen a draft sales-tax distribution formula and a bill number would be forthcoming. She confirmed House Bill 2,331 addresses cremated remains of unclaimed individuals at the Regional Forensic Science Center and said staff have circulated that bill. Cole said drafts or bill numbers also exist or are being prepared for elections legislation and other priority topics; a corrections bill remained pending staff review.
