Finney County commissioners on Jan. 13 approved two sets of funding transfers to support construction of a new health department and EMS facility that is currently out to bid.
For the 2024 fiscal year, the board authorized transferring $800,000 from the general fund and $280,000 from the EMS operating fund to the project. An administrator’s report noted the EMS operating fund had an approximate balance ‘‘just under $9,200,000’’ and that the transfer would leave a planned ending balance identified in the staff report.
For 2025 the board approved transferring $2,475,000 from the general fund plus $150,000 from the health department’s equipment reserve fund; the reserve amount will be routed back through the health department operating fund into the construction project as required by fund accounting rules. Staff said the requests were included in the county’s 2025 budget.
Commissioners were advised that project expenditures to date total just under $540,000 and that bids would be opened later this month. The votes to authorize the transfers were taken by voice and the motions carried.
Commissioners asked whether the project could be built for the budgeted amount; staff replied that final cost certainty will come with the bid openings.
