Commission reappoints and appoints members to Solid Waste Management Committee; oath administered

The Sedgwick County Board of County Commissioners on Feb. 5 approved a slate of appointments and reappointments to the Solid Waste Management Committee and administered oaths to several appointees present at the meeting.

County Counselor Justin Wagoner presented items C through F together; the package included reappointing Rich Hill (position 13), reappointing Tony Martinez, appointing Ben Tucker to a private solid-waste industry seat, reappointing Nikki Soiss as chair, reappointing Clement Dickerson to an unincorporated resident seat, reappointing Kate (Kaye) Drennan to a general-public/citizen position, and reappointing Suzanne Bays to a citizens-organization position. Wagoner recommended adoption of the resolutions for items C–F.

Commissioner Wise moved to approve the single motion covering items C, D, E and F, the motion was seconded and the clerk recorded aye votes from all commissioners. Several appointees present took the oath of office at the dais; the clerk noted that county clerk staff would follow up with other designees who were not present to complete paperwork and take the oath.

Chairman Beatty thanked the appointees for their willingness to serve on the committee, which he described as an important body for county services and operations.
