The Finney County Board of County Commissioners on Jan. 13 appointed Tim Hannigan to a one-year at-large seat on the Holcomb–Garden City–Finney County Area Planning Commission.
The appointment was made after staff reported that the at-large position can be filled by representatives from any of the three jurisdictions that share the joint planning commission. "The at-large member can be from any of the 3 jurisdictions," said Alyssa Charles, Assistant Director for Neighborhood and Development Services, as she explained the board composition and the city's earlier action.
Commissioners considered an alternative recommendation from a colleague to nominate Cindy Unger for the slot; that nomination was made from the dais but failed for lack of a second. The board then moved to nominate Hannigan. Vice Chairman Bryant seconded the nomination and the motion carried on a voice vote (one nay was recorded). The at-large term will expire Dec. 31, 2025, and Holcomb City Council must also confirm the county’s appointment.
The county packet presented by Charles identified that Vicky Yurman had resigned the at-large seat at the end of 2024 and that the governing bodies previously voted to appoint Hannigan at their December meetings. Staff had recommended appointing Hannigan to fill the remainder of the one-year term.
The commissioners instructed staff to advise Tim Hannigan of his appointment.
