Sedgwick County proclaims January Human Trafficking Awareness Month; ICTSOS announces expanded site

The Sedgwick County Board of County Commissioners on Jan. 15 unanimously approved a proclamation declaring January 2025 Human Trafficking Awareness Month and recognized ICTSOS, a local anti-trafficking nonprofit, which opened an expanded service location earlier this month.
Chairman Ryan Beatty read the proclamation, citing state law definitions of aggravated human trafficking (KSA 21-5-426, as stated in the reading) and the county’s multidisciplinary response to trafficking. Jennifer White, executive director of ICTSOS, accepted the proclamation and described the organization’s services and recent expansion.
White said ICTSOS conducts school-based education programs that reach roughly 5,000 children annually and that its advocacy programs served about 60 adult survivors last year. She described the new location at 126 S. Ida, an expansion from approximately 5,500 square feet to about 13,000 square feet, which will add on-site therapy offices, support groups, education for survivors and community classes. White also announced a symbolic groundbreaking event scheduled for Jan. 30 and said ICTSOS will sublease part of the space to Wichita Recovery Hub during the first year to coordinate services for survivors who also need addiction recovery support.
Commissioners praised ICTSOS’s multidisciplinary partnerships with law enforcement, medical providers and social-service agencies. Commissioner Jeff Bluebaugh specifically noted quarterly multidisciplinary-team meetings that include the FBI, Homeland Security, local law enforcement and domestic-violence and housing partners.
The proclamation was approved on a roll-call vote. No county funding action was taken at the meeting.
