Oconee County Council honors eight county employees for snowstorm assistance in Dorchester County

Oconee County Council on Jan. 31 formally recognized eight county employees who traveled to Dorchester County to clear safety routes following a winter storm and state of emergency there.
The proclamation (Proclamation 2025-01) named Steve Bryant, Jason Rowland, Richard Sloan, Josh Neesmith, Clint Livingston, David Greenwald, Cody Smith and Andy McGovern for two days of work making roads passable after Dorchester County requested mutual aid on Jan. 22. The council moved and seconded the proclamation and approved it by voice vote.
The proclamation text said the employees “spent 2 days helping to make safety routes in Dorchester County for its citizens” and received “heartfelt appreciation from Dorchester County” before returning on Jan. 24. The measure thanked the employees “for their services to the citizens of Dorchester County” and praised their commitment to public service.
Council members offered the recognition during the consent/proclamations portion of the meeting. A motion and second were recorded immediately after the proclamation reading, and the chair called for the ayes.
The recognition does not carry an implementation requirement; it is a formal expression of appreciation by the council.
