The Committee on Public Safety, Judiciary and Homeland Security approved a retroactive amendment to an addendum with ACRO Service Corporation to pay for technology-analyst services rendered to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.
Bonita Terry, director of administration for the Sheriff’s Office, told the committee the one-year cooperative agreement formally ended Sept. 30, 2023, but the contractor, Dale Weathers, continued to provide services through Oct. 31, 2023. “He did still perform services through 10/31/2023,” Terry said. The committee voted to approve payment for that additional month; the transcript does not specify the dollar amount.
The action matters because it authorizes payment after the formal contract end date to cover operational support during the county’s transition to a new system. Terry said Weathers had previously worked with the sheriff’s department under ACRO and that he is no longer with the Sheriff’s Office. A committee member noted the contract had been in place for several years; that length of service was described in the meeting as “like, 6 years,” which the transcript records as an estimate.
Commissioner Dobb moved to approve the retroactive amendment; Commissioner Alan Wilson supported the motion. The motion carried; the transcript records “Motion carried” but does not give a roll-call vote tally. The committee did not receive public comment on this item.
The committee proceeded to other agenda items and later adjourned.
