East Penn SD highlights student awards, events and upcoming kindergarten registration

Doctor Campbell opened the district update by congratulating students and staff across East Penn SD for recent academic, arts and athletic accomplishments.
Notable student recognitions included Emmaus High School musicians who participated in the PMEA district orchestra and chorus; Anna Chavoya Ramirez qualified for the NAfME All-Eastern Chorus. The district also recognized Ian Hoenschind’s qualification for regional bowling and Jackson Criner’s advancement as a finalist for George Mason University’s top scholarship. Emmaus High’s academic-team placements at regional quiz-bowl events and middle-school MathCounts results were also noted.
Athletics: the superintendent noted recent league successes for the rifle team and that Emmaus girls basketball was preparing for the EPC semifinals.
Programs and events: Doctor Campbell announced the East Penn Special Education Department’s parent-training series (next session Feb. 18 on behavior management strategies), an Emmaus High parent engagement night on Feb. 12 covering social-media safety and career readiness, and the district’s kindergarten-registration window opening March 1 for the 2025–26 school year. He also encouraged community organizations to submit summer-camp listings for the district’s annual summer-camp guide and noted planning for graduation and fifth-to-sixth grade family information nights.
Personnel and retirements: separately under personnel, the board approved several leave and hiring items and accepted the retirement of Dr. Toni Moyer, Willow Lane Elementary principal, who will retire at the end of the school year after 33 years with the district. Doctor Campbell praised Moyer’s leadership in opening Willow Lane and building school culture.
The district update was presented for information; no board action was required on the recognitions and events beyond routine personnel votes.
