County approves five-year renewal of MMR services contract

Gratiot County commissioners voted to renew the county’s contract with MMR for emergency medical services for five years and authorized Board Chair Dave Owens to sign the agreement.

County staff and representatives from MMR and the county’s advisory parties met in recent weeks to revise contract language, increase reporting transparency and strengthen advisory-board involvement; no cost changes were reported at the meeting. An MMR representative summarized the conversation and said the revised contract is ready for signature: "It's all done and ready to go now for another five years," the representative said.

Commissioner Jan moved to authorize the chair to sign the contract; Commissioner Tim seconded. The motion carried on an oral vote with no recorded opposition.

Meeting remarks said the contract updates emphasize clearer reporting between MMR and county staff and include revised language related to cooperation with local fire departments and rescue units. Commissioners did not discuss a change in contract price during the public remarks.

The county did not present the full contract text or a fiscal exhibit at the meeting; county staff indicated the document will be executed and retained in county records once the chair signs it.
