Commission approves vacating drainage easement, accepts replacement easements for StoreSafe of Rockledge project

The Board of County Commissioners on Feb. 11 approved a petition to vacate a drainage easement for StoreSafe of Rockledge LLC and accepted replacement public easements for drainage, access and sidewalk associated with the project in District 2.
County staff presented the petition as a routine request that includes surrendering an old easement and recording new public drainage and access easements. A representative for the project, James Saig of StoreSafe, told the board the company is building the approved PUD site plan and expects to construct about 100,000 square feet of climate‑controlled storage; he said the project will be quiet and act as a buffer for neighboring uses.
A member of the public, Sandra Sullivan, expressed concern that the site plan submitted to planning and zoning differed from subsequent site‑planning documents and alleged that portions of the parcel could be used later for other development; county staff responded that only four trees were removed with written permission and that utility work on a separate sewer project is not the reason trees were trimmed.
Commissioner Goodson moved to approve the petition and Commissioner Atkinson seconded; the motion carried unanimously.
