HR reported that the midyear snapshot is based on the first day of the second semester (this year, Jan. 20) and uses day‑3 staffing and student counts. The presenter said administrators are now reported as filled or unfilled positions to give a clearer picture of administrative staffing. The presentation noted two administrative openings at the time of the meeting, including an assistant principal vacancy at Marshall Elementary School.
The HR presenter said professional staff are reported in full‑time equivalents (FTEs) and cited a professionals FTE figure in the slide deck (reported aloud as "700 and 7.3"), explaining decimals reflect part‑time positions. The presentation highlighted current recruiting priorities: an assistant principal at Marshall Elementary, a long‑term substitute ESL teacher, special education assistants, custodial positions, a mechanic assistant and ongoing recruitment for bus drivers and substitutes.
Retirements and years of service Human resources reported a large group of retirements for board consideration at the upcoming voting meeting. HR said the district will vote on 19 professional retirements representing 532 collective years of service and noted two additional mid‑year professional retirements bring the total to 21 professionals retiring this school year, representing 591 collective years of service. The HR report also said three paraprofessionals are retiring this year with a combined 47 years of service. HR acknowledged long tenures among retirees and thanked employees for their service.
Board comment and next steps Board members thanked retiring staff and praised HR for the update. The presenters invited residents and prospective employees to the district careers page for open opportunities and noted guest substitute training is available through the Allegheny Intermediate Unit (AIU) program referenced in the presentation.
