Director Mrs. Miles presented the revision to the board, saying the change was in response to the Jan. 22 snow event and intended to prioritize safety while keeping the school year from being extended too far into June. Under the proposal, the district would increase the number of scheduled early dismissal days at year‑end from three to four, she said.
Miles told the board staff would immediately communicate the revised calendar to schools and families on approval. The board approved the change by voice vote after discussion; the chair stated the motion carried.
No changes to other parts of the school year were presented at the meeting. Miles said staff would answer individual questions from schools as needed and begin communications on the revised calendar after the board’s vote.
