MSBU advisory committee plans Sunny Hills paving project; consultant estimates 4.19 miles possible depending on asphalt prices

The county’s Municipal Service Benefit Unit (MSBU) advisory committee updated commissioners on Sunny Hills paving planning and membership vacancies on the MSBU advisory board.
MSBU chair said the committee will advertise an upcoming procurement for paving in Sunny Hills; he said his target had been to advertise, select a contractor and begin construction by March, but timing may slip by about a month. The chair told commissioners that, if bid pricing matches current estimates, the likely package would allow about 4.19 miles of paving under the MSBU program; if prices come back higher, the committee will reduce the scope to remain within budget.
The committee also reported normal membership turnover: three advisory positions will expire in April, and the committee will accept resumes from local residents for the vacancies. The MSBU chair said he will present recommendations to the board before terms expire.
Commissioners asked the MSBU chair to circulate the candidate list and the proposed road list to the commission. The county will monitor material prices closely through the solicitation process and adjust the scope if needed.
