The board held a roll-call vote; the appointment passed with eight yes votes and two no votes.
Board members said the posting and selection were handled through the district’s personnel process and noted the role is intended to place academics at the top of the district’s organizational chart.
The board will finalize related organizational changes and staff assignments as part of implementation.
