At the start of the Feb. 11 Gallatin City Council committee meeting, public recognition and announcements focused on local outreach efforts and community events.
Renee Saunders, a Gallatin resident, praised local media coverage of the census and thanked the Gallatin Chamber of Commerce for participation. "Kudos to whoever had the magical idea to get News Channel 5 involved with the census," Saunders said, noting repeated television coverage and urging neighbors to complete the census.
Mayor and other speakers highlighted Northfield Church’s Tim Tebow "Night to Shine," a prom-style event for people with special needs. The mayor said attendance at the event had grown to about 230 guests this year with roughly 950 volunteers supporting the event, and described the behind-the-scenes effort—food, hair and nails, photos and floral arrangements—as "phenomenal." The mayor encouraged continued media engagement and thanked organizers.
The mayor also used the time to list upcoming community events including local blood drives, a winter farmers market, fundraising dinners and a legislative update meeting with state representatives.
Ending: The public recognition segment emphasized local outreach—both the final push for census responses and volunteer-driven events—without formal action by the committee.
