The resolution text, read by the clerk, said, "Whereas there are 518 museums in Oklahoma ... Oklahoma museums directly contribute nearly half a billion dollars annually to the Oklahoma economy ... Oklahoma museums host over 6,000,000 visitors annually." The clerk concluded the reading with the language, "Now therefore be it resolved ... that Oklahoma House of Representatives and Oklahoma State Senate do hereby recognize and declare 02/13/2025 to be Oklahoma Museum Day." The reading followed Senator Thompson’s request to recognize the date; Thompson told the chamber, "we're going to go ahead and read that, and then we will take action on Monday." Senator Thompson noted the House had not yet taken up the concurrent resolution.
The Senate did not take a formal vote on HCR 1005 during the floor session. The resolution remains pending formal action when the Senate resumes consideration, as reflected in Senator Thompson’s statement that action will occur Monday.
Later in the session, the floor leader moved to adjourn "when the clerk's desk is clear" and to reconvene Monday, Feb. 17, at 1:30 p.m. Members approved the motion by voice vote; the presiding officer declared, "The ayes have it."
