Elwood board accepts SEPTA donations, approves consent agenda; posts districtwide safety plan draft for public comment

The board accepted $250 from Elwood SEPTA to support a social-emotional learning subscription and "$4,746 and $50.54 cents" from Elwood SEPTA to support special-education furniture and supplies for Harley Avenue Primary School; the donations were received "with gratitude," presented during the meeting and approved by motion (moved by Mr. Scueroa, seconded by Mr. Edwards) with a recorded vote of 5-0.
The board also approved the consent agenda — which the board described as covering district positions, appointments of legal counsel and firms, district clerk and treasurer appointments, and internal and external auditors, as well as hires for the upcoming school year — by motion of Mrs. Weiss, seconded by Dr. Siddiqui; that action was recorded as 5-0.
District safety plan: The board was reminded that the district is required to update its districtwide safety plan annually. The draft safety plan will be posted on the district website starting tomorrow for a 30-day review period, and the board will hold a public hearing at the August meeting prior to adopting the plan. Residents are encouraged to submit feedback by email to the address posted with the draft; the district said it seeks input to refine safety procedures.
One board speaker thanked Elwood SEPTA and encouraged residents to join the organization: "I encourage people to join SEPTA. It's a great organization that supports all of our children throughout the district," the speaker said during the donations presentation.
All administrative actions described above were approved unanimously (5-0).
