New Mexico Legislature proclaims Feb. 3, 2025, as Bernalillo County Day

The recognition came during the third week of the 2025 legislative session and included remarks from county officials and legislators who praised county staff and leadership for customer service and program work. "They are doing so many innovative and positive things for Central New Mexico, and we should be very proud of all of the work that they're doing," said a senator during the floor remarks.
A House member read the certificate on the House floor that stated, in part, "The House of Representatives of the State of New Mexico ... declares 02/03/2025 Bernalillo County Day." A different legislator told the chamber, "Bernalillo County rocks," and others highlighted the county's housing and behavioral health programs.
Former county staff and residents who spoke during the presentation emphasized program areas the county has prioritized. One speaker described their perspective "as a former county planner for Bernalillo County," saying the county's work helps keep residents safe and ensures services run smoothly. Another attendee described themselves "as a proud resident of the county," noting visible county work on parks, recreation, senior centers and housing.
The delegation also met with Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham. Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham offered encouragement and said, "I'd love for you guys to have access to more resources to build, build, build." The presentation included thanks to sponsors from both parties and a note welcoming the county's new county manager.
The event functioned as a ceremonial recognition rather than a policy vote. Organizers and speakers framed the occasion as an opportunity to highlight county programs and to acknowledge legislative and gubernatorial support; no formal motions or votes on county-specific legislation were recorded during the remarks.
