The Buellton City Council assigned council members to local and regional boards, commissions and ad hoc committees. Assignments included continuation or appointment of members to the County Library Advisory Committee, Santa Barbara County Association of Governments (SB CAG) representation, California Joint Powers Insurance Authority, League of California Cities delegate roles, the Economic Development Task Force, and others.
Vice Mayor Lewis agreed to remain the city’s representative on the County Library Advisory Committee; Council Member Sanchez agreed to serve as alternate. Vice Mayor Lewis and Mayor Silva will continue SB CAG representation. Council Member Sanchez will be the alternate for the Joint Powers Insurance Authority. The mayor and council agreed to rotate or split assignments to ensure coverage given the current four‑member council makeup.
Ad hoc local groups were also filled: the Thousand Trees initiative will be led by Mayor Silva and Council Member Hornick (as previously discussed ad hoc leadership); an SYV community outreach group and aquatics/arts committees were assigned members for initial oversight and will begin meeting to provide reports before the upcoming budget adoption timeline. Council members asked staff to schedule first meetings promptly so committee reports can inform the budget process.
No formal ordinance or funding decision accompanied the appointments; the assignments reflect council direction about who will serve as delegates or liaisons and which council members will act as alternates where needed.
