Carroll County proclaims Feb. 15–20 National Entrepreneurship Week, spotlights SBDC partnerships

The Board of Carroll County Commissioners on Feb. 13 read and approved a proclamation designating Feb. 15–20 as National Entrepreneurship Week in Carroll County.
County economic‑development staff and partners described local entrepreneur supports, including the Carroll County Small Business Development Center, Ready, Set, Go business startup workshops, the Carol Biz Challenge (an August business competition) and partnerships with the Maryland SBDC network, Carroll Tech and Innovation Center and local chambers. Darren Payton, assistant director of the Maryland SBDC Northern Region, said the SBDC provides counseling and training to help entrepreneurs start and grow businesses and noted scholarship and e‑commerce programs recently offered to local entrepreneurs.
Commissioners praised local small businesses, cited examples of firms that began as small ventures and urged residents to support Main Street businesses. No formal vote was required beyond the proclamation and commissioners expressed broad support.
