Water Works plans inaugural ‘‘Greater Cincinnati Water University’’ for local fourth-graders

City water officials described a new educational outreach program, Greater Cincinnati Water University, to bring elementary students to campus for hands-on activities about water resources, conservation and careers in water.
“We're holding the inaugural one this year in spring on March 20,” Interim Director Andrea Yang said, describing the half-day event planned at the Tangeman University Center at the University of Cincinnati. Water Works said it will invite roughly 300 fourth-graders from Cincinnati Public Schools for demonstrations, hands-on experiments and displays by partners including ORSANCO, Mill Creek Alliance, Procter & Gamble, Ohio EPA and the STEM lab.
The utility said organizers are working with the University of Cincinnati and Cincinnati Public Schools; the mayor, vice mayor and city manager are scheduled to attend. The event is intended to teach water-conservation principles, water-system basics and introduce possible career paths in water and related fields.
