MSBA policy project update: finance policies to be posted in Diligent; district to link legacy policies

Committee staff reported that MSBA-modeled policies approved by the board Feb. 11 have been returned to MSBA for numbering and publication. Staff said MSBA will assign policy numbers and post the new policies to the district's Diligent repository. The first set to transfer will be finance policies.

Committee members discussed that the district's current policies are mixed across different series on the website and agreed to replace scattered local finance references with a single link to the Diligent repository where the new MSBA-modeled finance policies will live. Staff said they will coordinate with legal counsel and MSBA and scheduled a phone call with MSBA on the day of the meeting to review posting details; the goal shared in the meeting was to have the policies posted by Feb. 19.

Members asked staff to verify which existing local policies should be removed from the website and which will be retained (some non-finance 3000-series items may remain). Staff clarified that newly adopted MSBA policies will appear in Diligent when they are new and numbered, and that Diligent will include links from the public policy page to the Diligent repository.

The committee also received a brief update — described as cross-committee business — that the audit committee is revising its committee description and will forward recommendations for committee structure and scope to governance staff for review.

Next steps: staff to complete coordination with MSBA and legal counsel, identify legacy policies for removal or redirection, and confirm posting and links in Diligent.
