Council member Mister Clark reported that the Strongsville Economic Development Committee visited the PPG powder-coating facility in Progress Drive Business Park on Jan. 27 and received a presentation and plant tour.
Clark said 15 people attended the tour and that PPG staff explained the facility supports several industries, including automotive supplier Stellantis. "It's nice to have business leaders that have a vested interest across all components of our community," Clark said, noting a focus on safety and that about "50 people" work in the plant's manufacturing arm. Clark thanked plant manager Spencer Bradford and other PPG staff for the tour and said the committee aims to increase local awareness of manufacturing operations.
Clark announced the Economic Development Committee's next meeting and tour will be Monday, Feb. 24, at 2 p.m., visiting CCL at 17700 Fultz Parkway. He described the Feb. 24 site as a newer plant in an area with potential growth.
The committee report was delivered during the council's committee reports section; no formal council action was taken on the tours or reports during the Feb. 3 meeting.
