Committee releases bill clarifying alternate membership on Peter J. Barnes III Wildlife Preservation Commission

Senate Bill 3918 (with companion A5067) was amended and released to clarify that alternate members of the Peter J. Barnes III Wildlife Preservation Commission may be authorized to vote in the absence of regular members and to ensure alternates are counted within total authorized membership.
Senate Bill 3918, with companion Assembly Bill 5067, was amended and released by the Senate Economic Growth Committee on Oct. 12. The amendments make the Senate and Assembly versions identical and clarify that the commission’s total authorized membership includes regular members and that, in the absence or disability of a regular member, an alternate authorized to vote counts within the total membership.
Committee staff described the amendments as technical clarifications and said the changes were intended to ensure the commission’s membership math and voting ability are clear. No outside witnesses signed up to testify on the bill.
The committee moved and released the bills by roll call. Senators Corrado, Timberlake, Vice Chair Turner and Chair Cruz Perez each voted yes and the bills as amended were released to the floor.
