The City of Sierra Vista received a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting, city officials announced during the Feb. 13 council meeting.
City staff presented the award to David J. Felix and his team, noting the designation reduces external reporting costs — city staff said it saves about $8,000 a year by avoiding additional reporting work. Council and staff thanked finance employees for maintaining the award for 34 consecutive years and said auditors are working to secure the next certificate.
The recognition was introduced as a ceremonial item before the council moved on to agenda business; city staff emphasized the practical budgetary benefit along with the professional recognition.
