Committee advances bill creating alternative notice methods for museums and historical societies

Representative Burnett asked for a yes vote, saying the bill would reduce undue staff burdens and speed processes for museums and historical societies working with older or unclaimed collections. “This bill is really about notice and uncom unclaimed property to free up the space for the local museums,” Burnett said. He and other members said the bill would allow museums to use alternative notification methods while still encouraging due diligence by museum staff.
