Conservation Commission votes to recommend Jenna Blavsky to Select Board for appointment

The Southborough Conservation Commission voted unanimously on Feb. 13 to recommend Jenna Burberry Blavsky for appointment to the Conservation Commission and asked staff to send a short recommendation note to the Select Board. The motion to recommend Blavsky was made and seconded during the meeting; commissioners present voted in favor.

Blavsky introduced herself to commissioners and described prior service on a conservation committee in New Lebanon, New York, where she worked on tree planting grants and a town-wide composting program. Melissa (staff) and commission members discussed the candidate’s background and shared links to local permitting resources and the Massachusetts Association of Conservation Commissions (MACC) guidance.

Commissioners indicated broad support during a roll-call-style assent. Chair Mark confirmed staff would prepare a brief memorandum for the Select Board to accompany the recommendation.

The vote was procedural and does not itself effectuate an appointment; the Select Board will consider the commission’s recommendation during its appointment process.
